Testimonials from Parents

My son was diagnosed with leukemia shortly before his 12th birthday, and he was in a really tough place at the beginning, physically and emotionally. His whole world was turned upside down, and his vision of life was so dark. It was a very difficult time, the hardest point of his life. During this time, while he was very, very sick in the hospital, Mikey’s Way came to bring their special form of love and caring, giving my son a laptop computer. This simple generous act opened my son’s eyes to the goodness of life at one of his lowest points and honestly gave him faith and strength to go on in fighting through some unbelievably hard battles. He has used his gift from Mikey’s Way to stay in touch with friends and the world, and more than that he was given the gift of seeing beyond himself and realizing the power of kindness and giving. Mikey’s legacy is truly incredible. We are so thankful.

Dear Mikey’s Way Foundation,

You made our day!  I just opened the mail and found your very generous gift.  Your support means so much, not only to my son, but to me. Upon opening and realizing the nature of the gift, a beautiful laptop fully equipped with Microsoft Office 10, tears of joy streamed down my cheeks. I had been struggling trying to get a laptop so to enable him to do any relevant work on it, but I couldn’t see my way out.

As a mother, it’s the hardest thing when you’re not readily able to provide for your child what they are in need of.  Your organization’s act of generosity shows that they’re still warm, understanding and kind people in this world. Thanks to your gift, my son is able to do his work and re-familiarize himself with the electronic world. May God continue to bless this organization.

Thank you!  You truly have made a difference.

Testimonials from Child-Life Specialists

This particular child had lost the ability to communicate due to a brain tumor and subsequent operation. A request was made to Mikey’s Way for help, in the form of an electronic tablet, to assist in his recovery. We honored the request and received this e-mail:

Dear Les,

The speech pathologist installed some communication apps and his mom installed a piano app to help with his dexterity. He used to be an excellent piano player and is slowly gaining some movement back. I cannot tell you how much it means to them to have the tablet. Junior is elated.

Thanks again,

“Mikey’s Way Foundation is amazing and beyond words. It was so great to see the kids smile, some of them have not done that in a long time.”

“Thank you for your amazing visit. Our kids, as well as our staff, were so overwhelmed by the enormity of your generosity. The children are going online, connecting with friends and just having a wonderful time. The distraction has certainly helped the children cope better.”

“Mikey’s Way has made such an amazing difference in the lives of our pediatric patients. The children are excited and connecting with their friends at home. There is an energy/excitement on the floor that was not there yesterday. There is no way we can express the gratitude we have for the amazing work your foundation does. Keep up the great work – you really do make a difference!!”

Dear Mikey’s Way,

In your one day visit, you had the ability to bring smiles to those in pain, laughter to those in sadness, and comfort to those struggling through a very difficult time in their young lives. Mikey’s vision was one of selflessness and love. You have all fulfilled that beautifully.

With deepest thanks,
Katie & the CHAM Child life team

Letter from a Teacher

Hello,

My name is Julia Belmonte and just this year, a student in my classroom, Marcello Fiorenza, was a recipient of a laptop from your foundation during his stay at Yale Children’s Hospital. Due to his ability to have this laptop, we are able to now Skype with him from our classroom while he is receiving chemo treatments and cannot attend school. I wish you could have seen the excitement in my classroom the day we were able to reconnect with Marcello while he was at the hospital through the camera on his laptop. It was truly a touching moment and one that I will always remember.

As a school, we were inspired by the story and organized a fundraiser for your foundation. Our totals are in and we raised $4,500.00 through a holiday run where children collected sponsors to support them in this event.

Please let us know how we can donate the proceeds to you! We appreciate all you do!

Please feel free to call if you would like to speak in person! I can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX

Thank you!
